The acquisition took place in October 2021, when EG Group purchased CS Food Group Holdings Limited, the company trading as Cooplands[1][2][3]. EG Group is operated by entrepreneurs Zuber and Mohsin Issa, who are also known for acquiring the supermarket chain Asda[3]. Before the acquisition, Cooplands was a family-owned business, founded in 1885 and based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire[1][7].
