Who Owns Arm

As of 2025, Arm Holdings is a publicly traded company, but the majority owner is still the Japanese conglomerate SoftBank Group, which owns approximately 87% of Arm following the company’s initial public offering (IPO) on the Nasdaq in September 2023[1]. Prior to the IPO, SoftBank held 100% ownership after buying back a 25% stake from its Vision Fund[2]. The IPO resulted in SoftBank retaining about 90% of the company at the time of offering, with this stake adjusting slightly over time due to public trading[1].

The remainder of Arm’s shares are held by institutional and retail investors as a result of its public listing[3]. SoftBank has continued to position Arm as a core asset in its portfolio, especially after regulatory hurdles led to the termination of Nvidia’s planned acquisition of Arm in 2022[6].
