Indesit and Hotpoint are currently owned by the Whirlpool Corporation, following Whirlpool’s acquisition of a majority stake in Indesit in 2014[4][7][6]. This acquisition included both the Indesit and Hotpoint brands across Europe.
However, Hotpoint’s ownership is geographically split:
- In Europe, Hotpoint (as well as Indesit) is owned by the Whirlpool Corporation[4][3].
- In North America, Hotpoint is owned by GE Appliances, which is currently under Haier[1].
Historically, Indesit acquired Hotpoint’s European brand rights in 2002[2], and Whirlpool subsequently acquired Indesit and its asset portfolio in 2014, consolidating ownership of both brands in Europe[4]. In North and South America, GE Appliances continues to own the Hotpoint brand[1].
