Who Owns Ipswich Town Football Club

The current owner of Ipswich Town Football Club is Gamechanger 20 Ltd, a consortium that acquired a controlling stake in the club in April 2021[3][5][7]. Gamechanger 20 Ltd is primarily backed by investment funds from the United States, with the ultimate controlling investor being ORG (Opto Realization Group), an Arizona-based pension fund[1][3][4]. ORG previously held a 90% stake, but after a £105 million equity investment in March 2023, their stake was reduced to around 50%, with the new investor, Bright Path Sports Partners, based in the US, acquiring around 40% of the club[1][4]. Three Lions Ipswich LP—headed by Brett Johnson, Berke Bakay, and Mark Detmer—also owns a smaller share[1].

As of the latest update, Gamechanger 20 Ltd holds more than 99% of the club’s shares and is named as the majority and controlling shareholder on the club’s official company details[5]. The consortium consists of several individual investors (14 shareholders in total), including a small stake held by musician Ed Sheeran[1]. While Gamechanger 20 Ltd may explore a full or partial sale in the future, it remains the club’s current owner and steward[1].
