Fenway Sports Group (FSG) is the sole owner of Liverpool Football Club. FSG, an American sports investment company, acquired Liverpool in October 2010 for £300 million and is led by principal owner John W. Henry and chairman Tom Werner[4]. The group owns Liverpool through wholly owned subsidiaries, and its economic interest is distributed among a range of investors. The only individuals or entities holding more than a 10% stake are John Henry, Tom Werner, Mike Gordon, and Rouge Aggregator LP[2].
FSG controls the Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Limited. The directors include John Henry, Tom Werner, Mike Gordon, and others, but no single person with shares in Rouge Aggregator LP holds a significant direct interest in Liverpool FC[6].
While FSG holds the overwhelming majority of the club, there are minority stakeholders as well. RedBird Capital Partners invested nearly £533 million in FSG in 2021, acquiring an indirect stake in Liverpool FC amounting to roughly 11%. There are additional minor investors, such as NBA star LeBron James, who became a minority partner in FSG after initially buying a small stake in Liverpool directly[8].
