Who Owns DAZN?

who owns a limited company

DAZN is owned by Sir Leonard Blavatnik, the British-American billionaire behind Access Industries and Warner Music. The UK register named him personally for the first time on 8 June 2026 — three months ago — replacing a limited liability partnership that had held the entry since 2016. Ownership verified 6 September 2026.

Who owns Dazn today?

The group company is DAZN GROUP LIMITED (06324278), incorporated 25 July 2007 and registered at Hammersmith Grove, London. The wider group runs to dozens of UK companies covering territories, media, production and financing.

Its active person with significant control is Sir Leonard Blavatnik, American, recorded as having significant influence or control, notified 8 June 2026.

Ultimate parent and corporate structure

The entry that Blavatnik’s replaced is worth setting out, because it is unusual. Ai Perform Holdings LLP held the PSC entry from 6 April 2016 until 8 June 2026, with a combination of conditions rarely seen together: ownership of shares between 50% and 75%, ownership of shares of 75% or more as a member of a firm, voting rights between 50% and 75%, and the right to appoint or remove directors.

The “as a member of a firm” wording records control held through a partnership rather than as a direct shareholder — the same condition found on Ford’s UK company elsewhere on this site, and one that appears only when a firm rather than a company sits in the chain.

So for a decade DAZN’s register pointed at an LLP, and it now points at a named individual. Whether that reflects a restructuring or a change in how the obligation was assessed, the effect is that the register became more informative in June 2026, not less.

Major shareholders or controlling persons

Blavatnik is the controlling figure. His investment vehicle, Access Industries, holds interests across media, chemicals and technology, and has funded DAZN throughout — the business has absorbed very large losses building a global sports streaming service, sustained by a single backer rather than by public markets.

There is no listing and no dispersed shareholder base. In 2025 the Saudi sovereign investor SURJ Sports Investment, part of the Public Investment Fund, was reported to have taken a minority stake, which if reflected in future filings would be a second name in the structure.

Official records and evidence

Companies House is unusually useful here — DAZN’s group is UK-registered, so the chain and the June 2026 change are all checkable, which is not the case for most streaming businesses.

What it does not show is money. DAZN is private, and its financial position is disclosed only through the statutory accounts its UK companies file, which have recorded substantial and sustained losses. There is no market disclosure of the kind a listed company would produce, and the reported valuations and investment figures are not filed anywhere.

Ownership history and changes

DAZN launched in 2016, built out of Perform Group — a sports media business that had been listed in London before Access Industries took it private. The Perform name survives in the LLP that held the PSC entry until 2026.

The company has expanded by buying rights and businesses rather than by changing hands: it acquired the streaming service of the Italian and other European football leagues’ partners, bought Eleven Sports in 2022, and in 2025 acquired the Australian broadcaster Foxtel.

It has never floated, and has been reported as considering one more than once without doing so. Blavatnik’s ownership has been continuous throughout.

Related companies and brands

Access Industries owns Warner Music Group, in which Blavatnik holds control through a dual-class structure, alongside interests in chemicals, property and technology. DAZN and Warner Music share an owner rather than a business.

DAZN itself owns the DAZN streaming platform, DAZN Bet, and the Professional Fighters League interest held through its PFL holding company.

It is not connected to Sky, TNT Sports or Amazon’s sports coverage — all separately owned, and all competitors for the same rights. As this site’s TNT Sports page records, that market is a small number of separately owned buyers bidding against each other.
