Who Owns GB News?
GB News is owned by All Perspectives Ltd, a UK holding company recorded at Companies House as controlling GB News Limited. Its largest individual shareholder is Sir Paul Marshall, registered at more than 25% but not more than 50%. The other registered controllers hold their influence through trusts rather than shares, and are associated with the Dubai-based Legatum group. Ownership verified 5 September 2026.
Who owns GB News?
The channel operates as GB News Limited (12859339), incorporated 4 September 2020. Its sole registered person with significant control is All Perspectives Ltd (12227760), holding 75% or more of the shares and voting rights with the right to appoint and remove directors.
So GB News Limited is not independently owned. The ownership question resolves one level up, at All Perspectives.
Parent company and ownership structure
All Perspectives Ltd has four active persons with significant control, and only one of them holds shares:
- Sir Paul Roderick Clucas Marshall — more than 25% but not more than 50% of shares and voting rights, registered country England, notified 16 August 2022
- Christopher Lincoln Chandler — significant influence or control over the trustees of a trust, United Arab Emirates, notified 6 April 2021
- Richard Edward Douglas — significant influence or control over the trustees of a trust, Cayman Islands, notified 6 June 2022
- Philip Vassiliou — significant influence or control over the trustees of a trust, United Arab Emirates, notified 31 December 2024
That distinction is the point of the page. Three of the four controllers are registered not as shareholders but as people with influence over the trustees of a trust — a recognised PSC condition that captures control exercised through a trust structure rather than through shares. The register tells you these people have control, and does not tell you how much of the company they economically own.
Major shareholders or controlling interests
Marshall, a hedge fund manager, is the only registered controller with a share band, and it caps at 50% — so on the register he is a substantial minority holder rather than an outright owner.
The trust-based entries are associated with Legatum, the Dubai-based investment group; Chandler founded it. Reported figures put Marshall at over a third of All Perspectives with Legatum holding a significant stake alongside, and identify smaller holders including chief executive Angelos Frangopoulos at around 4.8% of total shares, plus a staff shareholding block. Those figures are reported rather than register-verified: holdings below 25% do not appear on the PSC register at all.
GB News has been heavily loss-making — a reported £42.4m loss met with a further £41m from its backers. Funding a company is not the same as owning it, but sustained shareholder funding is a reasonable indicator of who is committed to it.
Other media assets in the group
Marshall’s media interests extend beyond GB News: he acquired The Spectator in 2024, and his holdings are the subject of continuing attention on media plurality grounds. Those interests are held separately from GB News rather than through All Perspectives, so common ownership of both does not make them one company.
One ceased PSC records an earlier chapter: Discovery Communications Europe Limited was a registered controller of All Perspectives until 16 August 2022, the same date Marshall’s entry was notified. Discovery was an early backer and exited.
Ownership history
All Perspectives was incorporated in 2019 and GB News Limited in September 2020, with the channel launching in June 2021. The register shows the ownership turning over since: Mark Schneider and Andrew Cole ceased as controllers on 6 April 2021, Discovery on 16 August 2022, Mark Stoleson on 31 December 2024 and Alan McCormick on 12 May 2025.
Eight PSC entries in five years, four still active, is a lot of change for a company of this age, and it is all on the public record.
Sources and verification
Every ownership statement above comes from the Companies House PSC registers for GB News Limited (12859339) and All Perspectives Ltd (12227760), including the ceased entries and their dates.
The percentage splits between Marshall and Legatum are reported rather than register-verified — the register gives Marshall a band and gives the trust-based controllers no figure at all, which is a real limit on what can be said with certainty. Companies House does not verify most filed information.
